Salman Shah’s Death: A Chilling Night of Murder and Conspiracy
The night of film icon Salman Shah’s death was not a tragic accident, it was, according to allegations, a cold-blooded and premeditated murder.
In a shocking revelation, Rezvi Ahmed Farhad, the 11th accused in the Salman Shah murder case, gave a hair-raising account of that horrifying night, describing it as a gruesome and well-planned killing.
Salman Shah Case Reclassified as Murder
Nearly 29 years after the mysterious death of actor Salman Shah, the case has now officially been reclassified as a murder investigation.
This major development has once again brought renewed attention to a statement made by Rezvi Ahmed Farhad back in 1997, a confession given 28 years ago that is now being re-examined in a new light.
In that 1997 confession, Rezvi Ahmed Farhad admitted his involvement in the murder of Salman Shah, revealing shocking details about the tragic incident. He began his statement by saying,
“We killed Salman Shah,” Rezvi confessed. He went on to claim that the incident was staged as a suicide to cover up the brutal truth. According to his statement, Samira, along with her family, was deeply involved in the conspiracy, and he himself played a direct role in the murderous act.”
The Murder Plot and Conspiracy
According to Rezvi Ahmed Farhad’s 1997 statement recorded under Section 164, the death of Salman Shah was not an accident, it was part of a contract killing worth 1.2 million taka.
Rezvi claimed that the murder contract was arranged by Salman Shah’s mother-in-law, Latifa Haque Lucy, who allegedly hired several people to carry out the assassination.
Rezvi further revealed that notorious figures from the Bangladeshi film industry’s underworld, Don, David, Farooq, and Javed, were also involved in the plot.
The Fatal Night: How Salman Shah Was Killed
Describing the night of planning, Rezvi said that on September 5, 1996, around 8 p.m., he met Don, David, Farooq, and Javed at a bar in Gulistan. Two other men, Sattar and Saju, also joined them. During the meeting, Farooq brought out 200,000 taka in cash, saying that it was advance money from Samira’s mother. He further stated that the total amount promised for the assassination was 1.2 million taka to “finish Salman once and for all.”
However, tensions soon arose among the group. Rezvi recounted that a heated argument broke out between Farooq and Don over the initial payment of 200,000 taka. Angry, Farooq left the bar but returned shortly after with another 400,000 taka in cash.
According to Rezvi’s statement, Farooq declared that the deal was set, six lakh taka would be paid before the job, and another six lakh after it was done. Soon after, the group began preparing for the mission, gathering a plastic rope, a syringe, a revolver, and other tools for the deadly task.
In his chilling confession, Rezvi Ahmed Farhad described the horrifying events of that fatal night.
According to him, around 2:30 a.m., Don, David, Farooq, and Aziz Bhai went to Salman Shah’s residence to carry out the planned murder.Rezvi claimed that the killers pounced on Salman Shah while he was asleep, turning the quiet night into a scene of unspeakable brutality.
He further alleged that Samira, her mother Latifa Haque Lucy, and a relative named Ruby were present during the murder, silently witnessing the horrific act that ended the beloved actor’s life.
Rezvi’s statement painted an even darker picture of that night. He alleged that Samira first rendered Salman Shah unconscious using chloroform while he was asleep. After a while, when Salman regained consciousness, chaos broke out in the room as everyone began to struggle with him.
During the scuffle, Aziz Bhai allegedly instructed the others to inject something into Salman’s body, claimed Rezvi. Moments later, Salman Shah was dead.
To disguise the murder as a suicide, the group allegedly hung his body from the ceiling fan, making it appear as though he had taken his own life.
